Press Release:

HealthSparq Launches New Solution to Address Provider Data Accuracy for a Better Consumer Experience

Provider Profiles Helps Health Plans, Including CHRISTUS Health Plan, Meet Provider Data Compliance Mandates

Boston, MA –  April 4, 2023 –  HealthSparq, a Kyruus company, unveiled Validated Provider Profiles to help health plans meet federal and state provider data requirements and improve the accuracy of member-facing directories.

As many as half of provider directories have inaccurate data, causing health plans to face citations and fines. While data accuracy has been a focus for Medicare and Medicaid plans for years, with the No Surprises Act this extends to commercial plans as well. As of January 1, 2023, health plans must confirm or attest provider data every 90 days and ensure directory updates appear in the member experience within 48 hours. With Validated Provider Profiles, health plans can automate data collection and ongoing validation to improve care access for members.

In a recent survey of 200 health plan executives, improving provider data accuracy was the number one area of collaboration they reported would help most improve the member experience. Validated Provider Profiles builds on HealthSparq’s experience with health plan provider directories and Kyruus’ experience working with providers to deliver a streamlined attestation process that is seamlessly reflected within the member-facing online and print directories.

CHRISTUS Health, a Texas-based not-for-profit system of community hospitals, urgent care centers, health insurance companies and physician clinics, will leverage the combination of Validated Provider Profiles and HealthSparq One® member directory to reduce compliance risks and allow their members access to the most current and accurate provider data. “This solution solves one of our biggest challenges: that of a fragmented and manual workflow,” said Ron Hirasaki, Vice President of Product Management & Marketing Sales for CHRISTUS Health Plan. “We started our partnership with Kyruus through our health system. With the addition of HealthSparq, we are now uniquely positioned to strengthen both the insurance and delivery side of the business, ensuring a seamless, accurate patient experience at all points of entry.”

Kyruus President Paul Merrild said, “With Validated Provider Profiles, Healthsparq and Kyruus are not only helping health plans meet their compliance requirements, but also reducing friction and operational costs. From our years of working with both sides of the house—payers and providers—we understand the partnership between a health plan and its providers is essential in ensuring people find the care they need from the physician they prefer.”

The Validated Provider Profiles solution supports health plans and providers with a turnkey, automated process to validate provider data on a rolling 90-day basis. It offers health plans the ability to:

  • Simultaneously meet provider data requirements for all lines of business by validating required fields within a single workflow
  • Increase data accuracy with direct provider outreach
  • Support providers by delivering a simplified validation experience
  • Improve the member experience with automatic provider directory updates within a health plan’s HealthSparq One® member-facing transparency and guidance solution

BOSTON, MA – OCT. 9, 2024 – Kyruus Health, the leading care access platform, announced the launch of Reach, a listings management solution designed to help health systems, hospitals, and medical groups to extend their brand’s reach, drive appointments, and increase patient acquisition.

Kyruus Listings Management

As the healthcare landscape becomes more complex, organizations face mounting challenges in maintaining accurate information across digital platforms. Reach addresses these issues by providing a centralized, automated solution for managing provider, location, service, and scheduling details across online directories and search engines through its integration with Kyruus Connect. This solution improves visibility, ensures consistency, and enhances patient engagement to support retention and acquisition efforts.

Reach syndicates provider and location data across major digital listing sites, as well as the proprietary Kyruus Health network, which includes over 100 health plan brands, care navigation organizations serving employers, and the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Reach will continue to expand its impact in 2025 across additional high-traffic platforms, including the ability to manage reviews and ratings within and across them.

Other key features include:

  • SEO Optimization: Enhance search rankings to make provider and location listings easily discoverable by potential patients.
  • Business Profile Management: Ensure up-to-date and optimized listings on leading search platforms.
  • Automate the Management of Listings: Sync provider and location updates automatically to reduce administrative burdens.

“As healthcare organizations increase their investment in digital advertising, many struggle with fragmented vendor landscapes and inconsistent provider data,” said Lesley Weisenbacher, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Kyruus Health. “Kyruus Health is already recognized as the leader in provider data management, so Reach is a natural extension of our offerings. By leveraging Kyruus Connect, Reach enables healthcare organizations to enhance visibility and growth in a digital-first world, ensuring patients can easily find the care they need.”

BOSTON, MA – SEPT. 17, 2024 – Kyruus Health, the leading care access platform, today announced the launch of two products for health plans; Guide, a conversational AI search experience, and Provider Data Solutions, a provider data management and attestation solution. In combination, these solutions are designed to help health plans use their provider data to deliver a better member experience while helping to connect members to the right care.

Improving Member Experiences with Conversational AI Search

Built upon foundational large language models, Guide utilizes natural language processing and generative AI to create a seamless and intuitive experience for members seeking care. The solution leverages Kyruus Health’s expertise in supporting over 1 billion searches for care and helps members select a provider that best fits their medical and personal preferences by offering digestible definitions of clinical specialties and medical terminology.

“People are looking for guidance in navigating their care options but complex filters, clinical jargon, and multiple clicks can be overwhelming and create barriers,” said Peter Boumenot, Chief Product Officer at Kyruus Health. “Conversational search streamlines the experience, making it easier and faster for people to find the care they need and even schedule appointments—all within a single, frictionless experience.”

Guide and Provider Data Solutions are the newest additions to Kyruus Connect for Payers, the care access platform that unifies data to streamline provider search, drive member engagement, and guide people to make informed care choices—all while advancing your organization’s growth and compliance goals.

Enhancing Provider Data for Health Plans

With provider information scattered across multiple databases, tools, and processes, maintaining a unified and accurate data source for health plans is costly and difficult. According to the Gartner® Hype Cycle™ Report, “Payers experience increased consumer and provider satisfaction as well as better financial results and operational efficiency when operating with more accurate provider data. Improved claims payment performance—including lower denial rates and improved financial reconciliation—are an example of a function improved by better provider data. Additionally, provider data management (PDM) tools reduce the risk of state and federal regulatory penalties for poor provider directory data quality.”

Kyruus Health’s Provider Data Solutions improve data quality through the ingestion, curation, and cleansing of data from various sources, building on the compliance and attestation capabilities launched through Validate. The result is a single, trusted source of truth of provider data that is more convenient and reliable across all access points. Kyruus Health payer customers are already experiencing the difference with enhanced provider profiles, with increases in member interactions of up to 114%.

In addition to better data quality and richness, 92% of consumers also express interest in scheduling appointments online according to the 2024 Care Access Benchmark Report for Health Plans,. To fill this need, Kyruus Health’s Provider Data Solutions also enable health plans to collect and display availability and appointment scheduling information, driving better member engagement and closing gaps in care.

“As a foundation for innovative technologies like Gen AI, accurate and reliable provider data is critical,” said Harshit Shah, Chief Technology Officer of Kyruus Health. “With Kyruus Health’s Provider Data Solutions, we meticulously manage and optimize provider data, enhancing its accuracy and trustworthiness, which paves the way for more meaningful AI-powered interactions and a superior member experience.”

If you’ll be at AHIP 2024 Consumer Experience & Digital Health Forum from Sep 24 – 26, 2024 in Nashville, TN, schedule time to meet with the Kyruus Health team.

Patient Access Pioneer Plans Major 2020 Investments to Extend Market Leadership

Boston, MA – January 8, 2020 – Kyruus, the leader in provider search and scheduling solutions for health systems, today announced that it raised $42 million in new financing in a Series D round that brings its total funding to more than $125 million since its founding in 2010. Venrock and Highland Capital Partners led the round, with participation from other existing investors, such as Providence Ventures and Salesforce Ventures. Kyruus, which already serves one in five US healthcare providers, plans to use the new funds to extend its product portfolio while also consolidating providers across the US on its industry-defining platform.

Kyruus welcomed 20 new health systems to its customer community in 2019 and now works with more than 50 of the top 300 health systems nationwide. Its 2019 momentum was fueled in part by health systems looking to replicate the impact that Kyruus has demonstrated with early adopters of online scheduling. As consumers increasingly seek providers who offer convenient self-service, health systems have looked to the award-winning Kyruus ProviderMatch® platform to help them upgrade their digital front doors while driving consistency across access channels.

“To compete effectively with both traditional and new care options and collaborate with emerging digital platforms, health systems need to be digital transaction-ready,” said Aaron Martin, EVP & Chief Digital Officer at Providence and Managing General Partner at Providence Ventures. “Providing consumers with a modern and accurate provider search experience is core to these efforts, making the Kyruus platform a critical part of a health system’s digital stack.”

Kyruus has emerged as the preferred partner for technology companies serving the health system market, most recently announcing partnerships with Brandify and Uber Health. These collaborations built on the existing integrations Kyruus boasts with best-of-breed EHR, CRM, patient reviews, and virtual care leaders. Kyruus will continue to forge partnerships across the digital health ecosystem, recognizing that health systems are increasingly turning to trusted partners who bring their solutions together in an integrated stack.

Kyruus intends to use the new funding to solidify its platform as the definitive routing and scheduling engine for healthcare. Among other innovation priorities, the company plans to deploy a suite of enhancements to augment its routing support, foster further schedule optimization, and extend scheduling to new entities. Kyruus is also actively developing partnerships with insurance companies and large employers to enable its health system customers to engage consumers who seek care through these other channels.  To support these goals, the company plans to hire 100 new team members in 2020.

“At a time when disjointed point solutions are crowding the market, Kyruus’ momentum reflects the value that health systems are placing on an enterprise-wide platform that enables them to engage and route their patients to the right care within the network,” said Dr. Graham Gardner, CEO of Kyruus. “We feel fortunate to have developed our solution in partnership with many of the leading health systems over the last decade and are honored to now be in a position to connect more patients to the care they need across the globe.”

These advancements further our mission of making healthcare work better for everyone by connecting people to the care they need.”

Through its collaboration with Google Cloud, Kyruus and its health plan business, HealthSparq, built a next generation data pipeline that can serve millions of people each month while reducing operational cloud cost. Additionally, the Google Cloud platform provides many of the foundational services engineers need ‘out of the box,’ allowing them to focus on solving Kyruus’ specific use cases versus managing Cloud infrastructure overhead.

“The Google Cloud Customer Awards are an opportunity to recognize the most innovative, technically advanced, and transformative cloud deployments across industries, from around the globe, built on our platform,” said Kirsten Kliphouse, President, Google Cloud Americas, Google Cloud. “I want to congratulate Kryuus on achieving this award and serving as an innovator for the industry.”

Leading Massachusetts-Based Health System and Patient Access Innovator Team Up to Enhance Access to Care in the State

Boston, MA – February 12, 2020 – Kyruus, the leader in provider search and scheduling solutions for health systems, today announced that Atrius Health, the Northeast’s largest non-profit independent medical group, has selected the company’s solutions to enhance patient access across Eastern Massachusetts. Providing connected care across 30 practice locations, Atrius Health will collaborate with Kyruus to help consumers connect with the right providers for their care online.

Dedicated to its vision “to transform care to improve lives,” Atrius Health is undertaking a series of digital initiatives aimed at streamlining and modernizing access to its network of more than 1,100 providers. As a first step, the Atrius Health team will work with Kyruus to build enhanced profile information for Atrius Health providers in the KyruusOne® provider data management platform, which will include matching Kyruus’ robust proprietary clinical taxonomy to providers’ clinical areas of focus. The taxonomy maps clinical terms to common synonyms, facilitating patient-provider matching based on consumer-friendly search terms.

KyruusOne will serve as the backbone for Atrius Health’s future consumer-facing search offerings for its more than 745,000 adult and pediatric patients, as well as new patients to the system. Atrius Health will leverage the Kyruus ProviderMatch® APIs to enable consumers to find the appropriate providers online more easily. The breadth of the data platform will help Atrius Health drive accurate matching and extend online scheduling to new patients, building on what Atrius Health already offers to current patients.

“At Atrius Health, we’re committed to streamlining access to care and helping consumers find the right providers for their needs,” said Marci Sindell, Chief Marketing Officer and SVP of External Affairs at Atrius Health. “Convenience of both the care itself and the access experience are at the heart of our digital front door initiatives, and we’re excited to work with Kyruus to improve how we manage and enhance access to our provider network.”

This engagement also lays the foundation for a novel initiative focused on exploring how Atrius Health and Kyruus can collaborate with the region’s health plans to improve access and care coordination further. Atrius Health has a long history of developing innovative care programs – often in concert with other care delivery stakeholders – to help patients navigate the healthcare system more efficiently. It shares a common goal with Kyruus of amplifying the impact of technology-enabled routing by engaging payers in new ways.

“With our headquarters here in Boston, we’ve been able to see firsthand Atrius Health’s commitment to providing high-quality, coordinated care and innovating around patient access,” said Graham Gardner, CEO of Kyruus. “We’re thrilled to now have the opportunity to not only support the team’s current provider data management and digital access initiatives, but also collaborate with them at the leading edge of care coordination.”

Largest Not-for-Profit Health System in Kentucky Will Utilize Kyruus ProviderMatch® to Simplify How Patients Find and Schedule Care

BOSTON – October 27, 2020 – Kyruus, the leader in provider search and scheduling solutions for health systems, today announced that Baptist Health, the largest not-for-profit health system in Kentucky, has engaged the company to help elevate its digital access experience for consumers. The health system will collaborate with Kyruus to modernize the care search experience for consumers on the Baptist Health website and enable them to book appointments online.

Headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, Baptist Health serves patients in Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana and Tennessee across more than 400 points of care spanning nine hospitals and a broad network of physician practices, urgent care clinics, outpatient facilities, and various other care centers. As the Baptist Health team re-envisioned the online access experience for consumers, simplifying how they find the right care across this network – and the more than 3,000 employed and affiliated physicians within it – was paramount. To achieve this goal, the team engaged Kyruus to provide the comprehensive patient access solution they needed to both manage and augment system-wide provider data, as well as make that information easily searchable for consumers online.

“At Baptist Health, the needs of our patients come first – ensuring their interactions online match the high-quality experience they’ve come to expect in each of our facilities. To mirror our priorities of convenience and access to some of the area’s finest medical providers, we want to provide our patients with tools that help them find the provider they need for their specific health concern, and allow them to schedule their own appointment online that best works within their schedule,” said Jody Prather, MD, chief strategy and marketing officer at Baptist Health. “Partnering with Kyruus, we’ll be able to deliver on that promise by building a centralized and clinically-detailed directory of our providers and care sites as the first step to accomplishing this important initiative.”

After utilizing the KyruusOne® platform to establish a system-wide provider directory to serve as its go-forward data foundation, Baptist Health will implement Kyruus ProviderMatch® for Consumers online. The solution allows consumers to initiate keyword-based searches for care and then easily fine-tune search results by applying various clinical and non-clinical criteria. Through direct integrations with EHRs, ProviderMatch also facilitates convenient online scheduling. Baptist Health plans to enable consumers to book both in-person and virtual visits through the solution.

“Baptist Health has an almost 100-year history of providing care to its communities,” said Graham Gardner, MD, CEO of Kyruus. “We are excited to help Baptist Health further its mission to improve the health of the communities it serves by making access to its growing care network easier for consumers – with an approach grounded in rich and reliable provider data.”

New Funding Will Accelerate Company’s Ability to Support Healthcare Organizations Caring for Patients During Unprecedented Time

Boston, MA and San Francisco, CA – June 10, 2020 – Kyruus, the leader in provider search and scheduling solutions for health systems, today announced that it has obtained $30 million in new funding from Francisco Partners, a leading global technology-focused private equity firm with extensive experience in healthcare IT. The new financing comes on the heels of a $42 million Series D round Kyruus closed late last year. At a time when the Kyruus platform has been critical to the ability for healthcare organizations to facilitate patient access during the COVID-19 pandemic, the additional funding will propel the company’s plans to expand its platform, broaden its footprint with health systems, and expand to new market segments.

Kyruus pioneered the patient access category within healthcare IT and has maintained its market leadership with an experienced, mission-driven team, award-winning platform, premium partner network, and proven customer impact. The fast-growing company now serves 600 hospitals and over a quarter of a million healthcare providers across the US. Through its enterprise provider data management and patient access platform, Kyruus enables healthcare organizations to understand their care networks like never before and connect consumers with the right care via modern search and scheduling experiences.

“Kyruus exists to enable human beings to care for other human beings,” said Graham Gardner, MD, Co-Founder and CEO of Kyruus. “We anchored our platform on the principle that healthcare organizations could better match patients to the right providers and care settings through a data-driven approach to routing and scheduling. This ability to connect patients to the appropriate care – across virtual and in-person appointments – has never been more critical. We are excited to work with the team at Francisco Partners to accelerate our impact through a range of strategic opportunities.”

Francisco Partners’ investment brings Kyruus’ total funding to more than $155 million. The firm’s Co-President, Ezra Perlman, who focuses on investments in the healthcare IT sector, will serve on Kyruus’ Board of Directors, joining existing investors from Venrock, Highland Capital Partners, and Providence Ventures as well as industry veterans from Partners HealthCare and athenahealth.

“Kyruus offers an unparalleled platform for enabling healthcare organizations to route patients to the right care options and streamline the access experience,” said Ezra Perlman. “At a time when major capacity constraints have converged with a rapid uptick in new care delivery methods, Kyruus is perfectly positioned to meet the industry’s evolving needs. We look forward to working with Graham and the rest of the Kyruus team to support the company’s ability to coordinate care for patients across the country.”

New Jersey-Based Health System is Leveraging the Kyruus Platform to Better Manage its Network and Connect Consumers to the Right Care

Boston, MA – June 16, 2020 – Kyruus, the leader in provider search and scheduling solutions for health systems, today announced that Inspira Health, a leading non-profit health system serving patients across southern New Jersey, has chosen the company as a partner in its efforts to enhance consumer access and experience. Inspira is utilizing Kyruus’ patient access and provider data management solutions to help consumers more easily find the right care matches and access appointments across its network.

Inspira serves its communities through a network of 1,300 providers delivering care across more than 150 access points, including three hospitals, two comprehensive cancer centers, 30 physician practices, several multi-specialty centers, and various other care sites. It opened its newest hospital this past December in Mullica Hill, NJ. Attuned to consumers’ evolving needs and its own evolving network, Inspira has taken several technology-driven steps – online and offline – to enhance access. Kyruus ProviderMatch® for Consumers forms a cornerstone of many website enhancements with a user-friendly care search experience, which includes the ability to route consumers effectively for COVID-19-related searches. Inspira will soon also implement online booking, enabling consumer self-scheduling directly into Inspira’s EHR from ProviderMatch.

To lay the groundwork for its new digital front door, the Inspira team first built a robust, system-wide provider directory with the KyruusOne® platform. This enabled them to not only capture rich and accurate data about providers – including their detailed clinical areas of focus – but also gain a single and dynamic view of the full network with in-app analytics. Powering Kyruus’ user-facing applications, the directory provides the foundation for Inspira’s access initiatives, ensuring consumers encounter accurate and up-to-date information. While building it, Inspira was able to utilize Kyruus’ updated clinical taxonomy to configure providers for COVID-19-related search terms, as well as incorporate a COVID-19 profile to surface more general guidance within consumer search results.

“As we think about the health and wellness of our communities, our people are our greatest asset,” said Tom Pacek, Chief Information Officer at Inspira Health. “As such, when we planned out our new digital front door, we knew we needed to start by gaining better visibility into our provider network. With Kyruus, we were able to find a single partner for both the provider data management foundation and consumer-facing experience.”

Inspira also plans to implement Kyruus ProviderMatch® for Access Centers to bolster the access experience for people who prefer to book by phone – still over 50% of people per consumer research. Deploying ProviderMatch both online and in its access center will help Inspira realize its goal of enabling more seamless and consistent access across the system.

“Inspira has done a great job evolving their care offerings to provide a wide range of care site options under the same trusted umbrella,” said Dr. Graham Gardner, CEO of Kyruus. “We’re excited to be working with the Inspira team as they undertake these efforts to make it easier for consumers to find the right providers and care options for their needs.”
